SEATTLE - Marques Tuiasosopo, who started in place of the injured Brock Huard, ran for two touchdowns and passed for another, leading Washington to a 53-12 mauling of Utah State.

Tuiasosopo scored on runs of 1 and 9 yards in the first half, and also had a 15-yard scoring pass to Dane Looker in the third quarter, putting the Huskies ahead 53-0. Overall, Tuiasosopo completed 11-of-21 passes for 194 yards with one touchdown and one interception, and rushed for 34 yards and two TDs on five carries.

The Huskies set a school record with 13 sacks against USU quarterbacks Riley Jensen and Logan Galli, with linebacker Todd Johnson leading the Dawgs with 3 1/2 sacks. Jensen alone was sacked a total of 11 times.

Freshman tailback Willie Hurst, who was only starting his second game, scored two TDs on 2-yard runs in the opening quarter. Hurst had to leave the game in the first half with a bruised hip. Jason Harris had touchdown runs of 2 and 9 yards for the Huskies.

With no time on the clock, Joe Jarzynka kicked a 20-yard field goal to end the first half. Jarzynka had replaced Jim Skurski as Washington's field goal kicker, after Skurski missed two field goals against Arizona. Jarzynka also made five of six extra point attempts.
