EUGENE, Ore. -- Corey Dillon rushed for a career-high 259 yards and three
first-half touchdowns and Brock Huard added a scoring pass as
No. 23 Washington routed Oregon, 33-14, in a Pac-10
Conference matchup on Saturday.
Dillon scored on runs of one, four and two yards in a 17-minute span bridging the first and second quarters. He has scored eight touchdowns in the last two weeks.
"I just say it's all in a day's work," Dillon said. "I'm just out there working. Whatever comes along with going out there and working hard, I'll take it."
Dillon's 259 yards are the second-most ever gained by a Husky. Hugh McElhenny holds the record with 296 yards, gained against Washington State in 1950.
"He has a great talent to hit a hole with strength and then to break tackles," Washington coach Jim Lambright said, "and once you get really concerned about the inside part of the running game, then it opens up things outside and he has a chance to roll off tackles and make even bigger plays."
Dillon set up John Wales' 19-yard field goal with a 75-yard run in the third quarter, then had a 67-yarder later in the period. The 67-yarder actually was an 80-yard touchdown run that was called back because of holding.
"I basically was trying to get an ugly four yards and I popped a couple of big ones," Dillon said.
Huard, who was 13-for-18 for 188 yards, found Cameron Cleeland
with a 10-yard scoring pass 11 minutes into the second half to
give the Huskies a 31-7 lead.
Washington (5-2, 4-1 Pac-10) snapped a two-game losing streak against Oregon and won for the first time in three road outings this season.
Oregon's first score came on one-yard run by Saladin McCullough with 1:50 remaining in the second quarter. The Ducks (3-5, 0-5) are the lone winless team in conference play and have allowed 204 points in their five conference games.
Tony Graziani's 35-yard scoring pass to Tony Hartley with 4:15 left capped the scoring.
