Nebraska 55, Washington 7

LINCOLN, Nebr. - DeAngelo Evans, making his first appearance since his freshman season in 1996, rushed for 146 yards and three touchdowns as No. 4 Nebraska, at full strength for the first time this season, blew past No. 8 Washington 55-7 Saturday.

The Cornhuskers (4-0) scored their 11th straight win over an opponent with a top-10 ranking in one of the major polls. It was also their biggest win over a top-10 opponent, exceeding their 45-point triumph over Colorado in 1992.

They also rang up their 45th straight home victory, the longest current streak in the nation and the fifth-best all-time. Washington was the last team to win at Memorial Stadium, 36-21 in 1991.

Nebraska has the longest current overall Division I winning streak at 18 games.

Evans gained 776 yards in 1996 but was sidelined last year with a pelvic injury. After missing the first three games this season with a knee injury, he carried 13 times and scored on runs of 60, 14 and 19 yards as Nebraska built a 35-0 lead in the first 25 minutes. Brock Huard provided little help for the overmatched Huskies (2-1). He completed 18-of-32 passes for 160 yards and was intercepted twice.
