
TUCSON, Ariz. -- Brock Huard tossed three touchdown passes and Rashaan Shehee added a pair of scoring runs, as 10th-ranked Washington pounded Arizona, 58-28.
The Huskies, who erupted for 41 points in the first half, improved to 5-1 overall and 3-0 in the Pac-10, while the Wildcats fell to 3-4 and 1-3 in conference play.
Kelvin Eafon scored three touchdowns for Arizona.
Washington wasted no time taking the lead, as Ja'Warren Hooker returned the opening kickoff 89 yards for a touchdown.
Shehee made it 14-0 with 9:10 left in the first quarter, as he capped an 83-yard drive with a one-yard TD run.
After Arizona got on the board with Eafon's 10-yard scoring run 10 minutes into the first period, the Huskies responded with Huard's nine-yard touchdown pass to Fred Coleman with 1:34 left in the opening quarter.
Washington then scored twice within the first 6:19 of the second period to take a 34-7 advantage. Huard connected with Jerome Pathon on a six-yard scoring toss and Jermaine Smith returned an interception of a halfback option pass 91 yards for a touchdown.
Eafon's five-yard TD run with 3:28 left in the first half made it 34-14, but Washington answered in the final seconds of the second quarter with Huard's three-yard scoring pass to Jeremy Bringham.
Shehee chipped in a 62-yard touchdown run and Maurice Shaw added a five-yard TD scamper in the third quarter for the Huskies, who compiled 472 yards of total offense.
Arizona received a three-yard touchdown run from Eafon in the third period and a 32-yard scoring pass from Ortege Jenkins to Rodney Williams in the fourth quarter.
Nick Lentz booted a 26-yard field goal for the Huskies in the fourth quarter.
Huard was 13-of-25 for 207 yards and Shehee carried 15 times for 136 yards.
Eafon had 23 rushes for 140 yards and Jenkins completed 22-of-46 passes for 348 yards.
Washington has won five of the last six meetings between the two teams and leads the all-time series, 10-3-1.
