After dominating Stanford the previous week, the Dawgs headed to Tucson for the "Duel in the Desert." The last time the Huskies had visited here was in 1992, when they entered ranked #1 nationally and were held to three points in their first loss since the 1990 season. That loss was partially atributed to the "Billy Joe Hobert" story having broken in the media several days earlier. However, the Huskies demonstrated that they had shaken off the ghosts of the past, crushing Arizona 31-17.
